Comments on Noncommutative Sigma Models
We review the derivation of a noncommutative version of the nonlinear sigma model on CP and it’s soliton solutions for finite θ emphasizing the similarities it bears to the GMS scalar field theory. It is also shown that unlike the scalar theory, some care needs to be taken in defining the topological charge of BPS solitons of the theory due to nonvanishing surface terms in the energy functional...
متن کاملComments on Closed Bianchi Models
We show several kinematical properties that are intrinsic to the Bianchi models with compact spatial sections. Especially, with spacelike hypersurfaces being closed, (A) no anisotropic expansion is allowed for Bianchi type V and VII (A = 0), and (B) type IV and VI (A = 0, 1) does not exist. In order to show them, we put into geometric terms what is meant by spatial homogeneity and employ a math...
متن کاملSoft SUSY Breaking, Dilaton Domination and Intermediate Scale String Models
We present an analysis of the low-energy implications of an intermediate scale (∼ 10 GeV) string theory. We mainly focus on the evolution of the physical parameters under the renormalisation group equations (RGEs) and find several interesting new features that differ from the standard GUT scale or Planck scale scenarios. We give a general discussion of soft supersymmetry breaking terms in type ...
متن کاملComments on Comparing Context Updates Delineation and Scale Based Models of Vagueness
In ‘Comparing Context Updates in Delineation and Scale Based Models of Vagueness’, Christoph Roschger argues that two frameworks, due respectively to Kyburg & Morreau and Barker, bear important similarities to each other in certain respects. Roschger begins by summarizing the respective frameworks, which I will not repeat, and proceeds to define four mappings: for each framework, he provides a ...
متن کاملComments on Thermodynamics of Supersymmetric Matrix Models
We present arguments that the structure of the spectrum of the supersymmetric matrix model with 16 real supercharges in the large N limit is rather nontrivial, involving besides the natural energy scale ∼ λ1/3 = (g2N)1/3 also a lower scale ∼ λ1/3N−5/9. This allows one to understand a nontrivial behaviour of the mean internal energy of the system E ∝ T 14/5 predicted by AdS duality arguments.
